Eco - anarchy

As the concept of sustainability and preserving earth moves towards a more capitalist agenda, it is up to us to bring the conversation back to a more authentic connection with our earth and force significant change with urgent optimism. Zawn, a fashion brand that exists in the fictional world, explores the innate desire to connect with nature and the eco-anarchy subculture. Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s heritage trees, this collection aims to replicate the same aesthetic, ecological and historical values in the garments. By juxtaposing punk aesthetics with 5 nature inspired textiles, the collection embodies rebellion against governmental and capitalistic organisations whilst making a statement on their ecological identity. Inspired by dazzle patterns and camouflage, the wearer is a moving, striking embodiment of nature in urban environments. The strong contradiction is evoked through elements of scale, impressionist techniques and saturated colours. It helps the wearer convey their ecological identity whilst spreading awareness to the cause through the element of shock and disturbance as they move through spaces. The garments aim to move the focus away from the contours of the human body and to a more mutual understanding of fashion and the environment.
