Shaily Gupta graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Knitwear Design from National Institue of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai (India) in the year 2022 and was acclaimed with a Gold medal for best performace there. Her award winning design collection led her to eventually launch her brand Shay Studio. Having been a highly driven fashion fanatic, she translates her vision into clothes and ventures into building a brand that provides eclectic, elegant, ultra cool and new, modern occasionwear pieces, Menswear & Womenswear both. Her designs originate as a result of philosophy and life, emotions and theories. She has worked previously for Not Just A Label, world’s leading designer platform. She has had experience working at design houses, export houses, startups and has had freelance clients from across the globe.

The key narrative of the collection revolves around the act of letting go and going with the flow. It’s a journey of transition from a mental state of angst and overthinking to introspection and finally letting oneself free of the weights of thoughts, letting go and going with the flow. These phases have been symbolised seeking inspiration from fluidity and the myriad contrasting forms of water. Harsh, aggresive WAVES to gloomy RAIN DROPS, RIPPLES symbolizing confusion, A FREE FALL OF WATER that speaks to you about letting go and finally happy BUBBLES that signify a blissful weightless state. These are pieces with purpose driven surface work that aim to utilize cut and sew waste, for surface embellishment, applique work and patchwork totes.
